Person Centred Care 2020

National Voices has launched Person Centred Care 2020: Calls and contributions from health and social care charities.  In this document and in a related letter to the Times NV set out an agenda for the next government, and also for leaders and practitioners across the health and care system.
“Progress towards “putting people first” has been too slow. We call for a step change in the ambition for person centred care and set out the key enablers of that:
– Ramping up the effort on public health and health inequalities;
– Making “what matters to people” a key organising principle of reform;
– Making supported self-management, care planning and personalisation the default for people with chronic conditions and disabilities;
– Creating people powered services, co-produced with citizens, and better embracing carers, volunteers and the voluntary sector ;
– Real terms growth in the health and social care budget ;
– Stability – with local evolution, locally led, not major top down reorganisations.”
