SAIL CIC is the first Independent Living group in Swansea. We are a Community Interest Company (CIC).  SAIL CIC is a group organised and run by Disabled people for Disabled people.

SAIL CIC celebrates Disability Culture in realising our value and sharing our experience of difference. SAIL CIC is one of 7 projects in a Big Lottery portfolio called ‘Planning Together’ part of ‘Community Voice’.  SAIL CIC is proud to be part of a multi cultural society alongside other groups that demand a voice with our decision makers.

SAIL CIC is about choice and control of our lives, creating a form of politics that evolves from our uniqueness and experience, not led by professionals or non-Disabled people.

The SAIL CIC ‘Planning Together’ project aims to work in partnership with decision makers enabling our voices to develop Independent Living throughout City and County of Swansea.

We are in the first month of work with Social Services in Swansea and plan to use Theatr Forwm to co-produce services and get our voices in to commissioning of services in the 2017 plan.

We use a creative writing group called Creating Ourselves to prove we can all write ourselves a better narrative; not brave and certainly not tragic; Disabled People’s Theatre to show the oppression and discrimination of mainstream culture.
